  • The Association's Garden Competitions are held on Sunday 7th October (Spring Competition) and the first weekend of February (Summer Competition).
  • All previous years winners have to stand down for one year.
  • Gardens are all judged from the street except for the Peter Lawrence Trophy, which will be judged from the public access areas of the property.
  • Entries close at 5.00 pm on the Tuesday 2nd October 2007.
  • Judges may reclassify a garden if not in appropriate class.
  • All gardeners may enter their appropriate class only.
  • The use of artificial flowers is not permitted.
  • Owners of prize winning gardens are expected to allow their gardens, if selected, to be included in the Canterbury Horticultural Society - Christchurch Beautifying Association tours and give a certain amount of exclusivity over this period.
  • Entry to competitions is free for financial Christchurch Beautifying Society members and $10.00 for other entrants.
  • Entries open for gardens within Christchurch City Boundary (the boundary existing prior to the inclusion of the Banks Peninsula area).
  • Challenge trophies will be awarded only if a garden has obtained 65 points or more while certificates will be awarded to gardens obtaining 60 points or more.
  • Entrants shall not be eligible to act as judges in their class.
